KNOW THE RULES
Six Fire-Safety Rules Every Kid Should Know
Learn these rules, practice them, and share them with your family.
🔥
Never Play with Fire
Matches, lighters, and candles are tools for grown-ups. If you find one, do not touch it. Tell an adult.
🏃
Get Out Fast and Stay Out
If there is a fire, leave immediately. Never go back inside for toys, pets, or belongings. Tell firefighters if someone or a pet may still be inside.
📞
Call 9-1-1 from Safety
Once you are outside at a safe place, call 9-1-1. Give your name, address, and what is happening.
🔔
Know the Alarm Sound
A smoke alarm uses three loud beeps, followed by a pause, and repeats. When you hear it, get up and get out.
🗺️
Know Your Escape Plan
Plan two ways out of every room when possible. Practice the plan with your family at least twice a year.
📍
Meet at Your Meeting Place
Choose a safe place outside, such as a tree or mailbox, where everyone will meet after leaving the home.
